As the design leader at Tonal, I spearheaded a dynamic team of designers and researchers responsible for shaping both the hardware and software design of this revolutionary product.
What it is
Tonal is not just a gym – it's a comprehensive fitness solution that brings the expertise of a personal trainer directly to your home. With its sleek design, digital weights, and AI-powered personalized workouts, Tonal empowers individuals to lead healthier lives and achieve their fitness goals with unparalleled convenience and efficiency.
My role
I led research and design across hardware, software, and workout experience.
Leading a diverse team of product designers and researchers, I guided every aspect of design to ensure a seamless user experience. Our collaborative efforts resulted in a product that not only delighted customers but also fostered lasting habits for improved well-being. From meticulously researching and testing design decisions to shaping the Tonal coaches' wardrobe guidelines, my team and I were responsible for creating a seamless user experience at the intersection of software and hardware that redefined fitness engagement.
Achievements
In my three years at Tonal, I've had the privilege of leading a team of over 20 world-class designers and researchers. I cultivated a design culture centered on human-centric practices and collaboration. Together, we created a habit-forming product with an industry-leading Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 86 and set the vision for future hardware innovation.
Impact
Our relentless focus on user experience and innovation has not only garnered acclaim from customers but has also positioned Tonal as a leader in the fitness industry, helping secure endorsements from Serena Williams, and Le Bron James and partnerships with Nordstrom and Four Seasons.
By championing inclusive creativity and fostering a culture of rapid innovation, we've paved the way for Tonal to continue revolutionizing the way people engage with fitness.
